My immediate thought on this issue was that it should not be included in physical education programs.  I thought that exergaming was an activity meant home life and not the classroom.  However, I realized many benefits the more I researched and thought about it.

Technology can be used as a motivational tool, especially for those students that do not excel in physical education.   There are many advantages to adding exergaming as a component to the physical education program.  Some of those are that it adds technology to the physical education program, it keeps students engaged, and it shows students a different way to interact with the technology in a positive way.

I believe that exergaming can be very effective as long as screen time is used in moderation, and in combination with more conventional exercise programs.  Traditional sports that promote coordination, teamwork, and intense exercise should still represent the principal role of physical education.  Exergaming should not replace traditional physical activity, but should work as a supplement, providing an additional option for keeping students active.
